We are a fine and decorative arts appraisal and consulting firm offering professional services to private individuals, museums, artists, galleries, auction houses, insurance companies, corporations and charitable foundations.
The principle of the firm, James (Jim) Finlay, holds undergraduate degrees in Art and Art History, Fine Art (studio), Art Education, a graduate Diploma in Art History and a graduate degree in Comparative Media Arts. He is an accredited member of the International Society of Appraisers (Fine Art Specialist). Jim Finlay has many years experience in the business of fine art appraisal and fine art wealth management. His area of expertise includes antique, vintage and contemporary Canadian, American and International art works including oil and acrylic paintings, lithographs, etchings, drypoints, serigraphs, watercolours, drawings, photographs and sculpture. He is an author and educator and regularly contributes articles to various journals on such diverse topics as art authentication, art appraisal and fine art wealth management strategies.

Appraisals
We provide thoroughly researched written appraisals for purposes of securing adequate insurance coverage, facilitating an in kind donation to secure a tax receipt, equitable distribution of family assets, estate and for re-sale purposes.
CCPERB Appraisals (Canadian Cultural Property Export and Review Board)
We provide thoroughly researched written appraisals conforming to Section 8 of the Canadian Cultural Property Export and Review Boards guidelines for donation of artworks designated as significant Canadian cultural property to non-profit institutions.
Asset Management
We advise clients on art investment strategies designed to generate growth and maintain wealth. We recommend collection management alternatives as a means to maximize investment potential. We suggest necessary conservation and restoration techniques on an investment return ratio basis to facilitate auction house consignment and we provide authentication and art storage services.
